Who we are – MTB Club Karlsruh
About our club
has more than 1,000 members – from beginners to competitive riders – and an active children’s and youth program. We run a bike school for over 130 kids, trained in a structured way and tailored to their age. We are a community of people who breathe forest air, wear mud as a badge of honor, and share a passion for biking. For our children and young riders, we create safe places to learn and real adventures; for the wider community, spaces to push limits and to feel at home – with respect for nature and other forest users, with expertise, and above all, with heart.
Why we do this
Biking brings people together, keeps us fit, and creates a strong connection to nature. At the same time, clear rules and well-designed infrastructure are essential so that everyone feels comfortable in the forest – walkers, other forest users, and mountain bikers alike. With our projects in Karlsruhe and Ettlingen, we provide accessible, well-managed trails across a range of difficulty levels.
What is this about?
Our goal:
The “Lehmgrube Ettlingen Trail Park” – offering legal, safe trails for everyone. For families, beginners, and advanced riders alike. Built through extensive volunteer work and funded by supporters. Professionally planned and implemented in cooperation with Allegra, one of the leading trail-building companies. Our plan:
- 2 trails (Flow Line and Enduro)
- including a jump line
- a skills center for beginners
What we need to make this happen:
To realize the “Lehmgrube Trail Park,” we require a total budget of €98,000. This budget is made up of two
two pillars:
- contributions from trail usersMany small donations via PayPal – from everyone who loves and uses the trails (almost €10,000 raised within just one month).
- Support from our sponsors and donorsGreat partners from the Ettlingen & Karlsruhe region and beyond – from industry, sports, outdoor, gastronomy, services, and many other sectors.
Current status
- All permits, environmental impact assessments, and related approvals have been granted. Our club has already pre-financed more than €15,000 for this.
- We conducted a large survey among bikers to find out which types of trails they would like to ride.
- The trail routes have already been planned and marked.
- Our club members have already cleared 1.5 km of the first trail of trees, rocks, and debris so that the trail builders can begin work with machinery. The second trail (Enduro) will be built almost entirely by hand, with a great deal of passion. The jump line and the skills center will also be created using a combination of machinery and extensive manual work.
- We have already secured initial sponsors such as Shimano (supported by Paul Lange), Eicker Bikes, and others.
- However, to really get started, we need approximately €50,000 for the first trail:
- €30,000 for the trail builder with excavator
- €20,000 for a professional trail shaper
